St. Croix rests a 40 mile travel south of its sisters in the United States Virgin Islands, St. Thomas and St. John in the Caribbean Sea. At 84 square miles, St. Croix claims the prize as the largest of the US Virgin Islands, yet at the same time St. Croix represents perhaps the quietest and most relaxing island of the group. Once the airline deposits you on this tropical island, your vacation experience moves you through a diversity of topographies more akin to travel through 8400 square miles.

On one side of St. Croix discover Point Udall, not only the eastern tip of St. Croix, but the eastern most point of any US state or territory. A hike near this area of St. Croix, takes tourists by cactus and arid flora one expects from a desert, except a deserted beach greets those travelers brave enough to take the journey. A short drive brings you to the Divi Casino, a small welcoming facility representing the only casino in the USVI.

Lush areas abound as you travel across St. Croix including 3 golf courses, considered by many amongst the finest in all the Caribbean Islands. Pass the Carambola golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and begin your journey through the St. Croix rain forest through the vines, mango and mahogany trees. At the west end of St. Croix enjoy the Frederiksted sunset.

Along the way travel on St. Croix includes fantastic views and beaches. West of Christiansted swim at Cane Bay beach and explore nearby Salt River Bay Park, where travel by kayak brings you through the mangroves to the area where Columbus landed in 1493. South of Frederiksted, discover Sandy Point during the hours they let tourists visit the beaches usually reserved for sea turtles.

In the Caribbean Sea off the St. Croix shore enjoy great scuba diving, fishing, sailing and snorkeling, including a trip to Buck Island a mile from the St. Croix mainland. A gentle sail brings vacation goers where they put on their masks and fins as they explore the only underwater US national park.

Cities on St. Croix feature Christiansted and Frederiksted. Both feature a small relaxed local flavor compared to the high end shops and fast pace of other island towns. Danish architecture highlights Christiansted the largest city in St. Croix where those who travel to St. Croix find souvenirs, jewelry and other gifts as well as restaurants and the historic Fort Christiansted. Try to visit during a special celebration like the Christmas Parade or one of the Jump Up days to hear steel pan music and see the Moko Jumbie as you stroll through town.

Travel to St. Croix can provide exactly the island vacation you need!
